Hi, I’m reshma Chugh.

I believe that everyone has the innate ability to find solutions to their own problems.

My approach to therapy includes building upon the client's strengths and existing resources, as well as helping them cultivate and identify new resources to manage the challenges they are experiencing.

I specialise in individual counselling and relationship counselling in Hong Kong.

I was born and brought up in Hong Kong. Having studied locally and in the UK, I am fully aware of the issues of living overseas and the impact this can have on families and individuals.

I worked in the banking industry for 3 years. My genuine passion and concern for people led me to give up my banking career to become a counsellor – a career I find much more rewarding. First-hand experience of being in the “rat race” makes me particularly empathetic to professional people trying to achieve balance in their lives.

I have more than a decade of experience counselling in Hong Kong, having worked in private medical clinics, refugee centres and schools with a wide variety of mental health, social emotional, relationship and behavioural challenges.

I specialise in a range of mental health challenges including Depression, Anxiety, Couples Therapy, Pre and Post Marriage Counselling,  Stress Management, Trailing Spouse Syndrome, Adjustment for Expat Families, Communication Skills and Mindfulness.

I have been interviewed and featured on TVB’s Pearl Report discussing marriage and relationships.  I have also been featured in the South China Morning Post regarding managing stress with family and children during the pandemic.

I am a trained EMDR Practitioner.

My Approach

I believe in using an eclectic therapeutic approach that incorporates a variety of therapeutic principles and philosophies in order to create the ideal treatment course to meet the specific needs of the client.  I use techniques from the Gottman Method with couples, EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Mindfulness techniques.

I work by addressing conflict resolution, stress management, communication styles, and parenting skills.  In this way, I help couples and individuals form more secure emotional bonds which result in stronger relationships, improved communication and achieving personal goals and growth.

Languages

I speak English, Hindi, Sindhi and basic Cantonese.
